On Saturday 13 June I set off on the journey of a lifetime taking in sights, sounds and smells that some people only dream of – I hope you’ll follow me on this crazy adventure!
I’m learning Wordpress as I go – so please bear with me! The further into my trip I get the better the website will be! Click on the two lines in the top right to explore the pages – thanks!

Neale Donald Walsch

I think most people plan this sort of trip months if not years in advance. When I was warned in April that I might lose my job that was it – I made the decision to travel. There have been multiple things in my lift in the last 18 months that have not gone to plan and if you’d asked me this time last year – then a four month round the world trip was not on my radar!
I did a quick bit of research on round the world tickets, drafted out a basic flight itinerary and set myself off to see the lovely team at Trailfinders in Edinburgh. That was on 11th April and flights were booked on 15 April. Sometimes you can spend too much time thinking about something! My round the world ticket allows me to travel in either direction as long as I cross both the Atlantic and the Pacific, don’t double back and stick within the 35,000 mile limit!
Dr Seuss knew what he was talking about:
” You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go”
