All those excess baggage fees are finally justified – I need my long sleeves and fleece!
For those of you who have been here since the start, you probably wanted to tell me to shut up about how hot it was – I will now be telling you about how cold it is!! I’ve gone from 35 (feels like 45) in Houston, to 5 ( feels like 1) in Wellington. Yes folks, 5 degrees.
I have a lovely friend who lives here in North Island New Zealand (unfortunately we’ve not made it work to meet up – this time π ) and, as well as giving excellent tourist tips, did warn me about ‘Windy Welly’ , I’m turning that into Wintery Windy Welly!
The scenery flying in was stunning. I rarely choose a window seat on flights, I’m an aisle girl so I don’t need to ask anyone to move if I need to get out. However, for this 51 minute flight I knew I’d be able to sit for that length of time and I’m glad I did. Flying into Honolulu the person in the window kept the blind closed the whole day despite it 1) being a day flight and 2) FLYING INTO HONOLULU! Over water and islands!
Aren’t supermarkets in other countries fun. You don’t need to answer that – I know I’m that person who will happily wander a supermarket for ages if I’m in a different country, but when I used to do shopping at home, I usually did it online to save wasting time haha. There is a ‘New World’ (yeah, that’s its name) supermarket over from my accommodation here in Wellington and boy, did I enjoy wandering round!
Decent wine in a can! Local produce front and centre! Weird barrier things to get in, but I think it must stop a lot of shoplifting – UK take note! Mind you, I’m sure our now newest Prime Minister might not have that on his ‘First 100 days’ list. If I don’t look too weird (actually, I don’t think I care), I’ll try and take a picture tomorrow.
Anyway, back to what I did take a picture of…

The Care Fillery. All sorts of things that are mostly prepackaged in singke use plsstic at home are right here for you just to fill either your own container, or tgey do have paper bags and those jade from recycled plastic too.
There wss also ‘the sweetery’ which may have caught my eye slightly more! Dinner in my room tonight ehich was sushi, rice cakes, cheese, hummus, coconut ice, fudge and chocolate caramels! The dinner of a traveller!
Thus place does have a fully equipped shared kitchen and common area downstairs, but my anti socialness is very much taking over at the minute!
I’ve got pilates booked for tge norning! My first two attempts in r places did not work out so I’ve got everything crossed tomorrow works. The class is at 0730…I’ll be up.and out in plenty of time. I hope!! I’ll let you know tomorrow.
