HK Disney!

I’m just finishing my lunch at the Hollywood Hotel before heading into HK proper.

I do however want to address something before we get to Disney. I feel a bit like Ed Sheeran now, before I get to the good stuff I need to tell you where I stand on…not really.

Some of you will no doubt have noticed a comment from my friend Douglas on my post Seventeen and my subsequent reply. I have always said this blog is honest, it is my thoughts and feelings as I attempt to heal. I did not use the word abandon in my post, but, for some reason that was clearly his interpretation. I gave since been removed from his Facebook friends. Oh well, I guess he won’t be sending me the screenshots from his phone I need to put in my insurance claim for losing mine!

Anyway, it is done and now I get to tell you about Hong Kong Disney!

My TV welcome screen!

Oddly Mystic Manor (their version of Haunted Mansion) was closed as was Jungle Cruise, two of the busiest rides, which is probably why the park did not seem overly busy and yes, there is only one park here!

Another thing that seemed odd when you’re used to the esarly starts at WDW was that the park didn’t open until 1030 and closed at 2000! Given how stupidly hot it is here just now, 35degrees plus humidity, you’d think then might open say even at 0800 so people could do a few rides before it got too hot but what would I know?!

Since there are so many different rides and shows here I focused on those as much as possible although even then I didn’t do everything. I felt a bit low again, I’m not sure if it’s timing, the heat, the Douglas thing or realising I’ll be home in less than three weeks but I didn’t enjoy Disney as much as I wanted to (don’t tell anyone).

Firstly, the Moana show! I did find it interesting how certain characters were speaking Cantonese, and the others answering in English, I thought it would be difficult to follow but it was okay.

The Castle Halloween show was your typical cute Mickey & Minnie & friends and then the Villains show was pretty fab!

I won’t bore those non Disney fans with anymore nonsense (plus the temp phone is having issues downloading videos), other than a few more photos!

  2. It doesn’t matter how much Disney is in this post, it still made me feel a little sad. Sad because, when people are trying to work through the pain of a breakup, it can sometimes feel like friends and people around them eventually feel they have to choose sides or disengage.

For me, this isn’t about the why, the how, the when, or anything else that may have happened. I’m simply showing support for Lorraine as a fellow human being who is doing her very best to navigate a difficult time and move forward in the way that feels right for her.

Sometimes a little kindness and support is all that’s needed. ❤️. Keep going sweetie. You are doing great.

    1. I was thinking about you when thinking “oh, too much Disney”! My friend is 55 and I’ve known him for 30 ish years – I’ve no idea why he reacted in such a way but hey – people are strange!
