How was your last Post Office experience? I know, that is a weird question to ask in a blog post about travel! I’ve posted things home from the US, New Zealand and Australia on this trip and I’ve always had great experiences but today, at the Post Office in HK I was excited! I know, I too think I am getting old being excited about a Post Office visit!
First of all the gentleman who served me was so kind and helpful. I’m always a bit embarrassed speaking English in a different country. Yes, one of the languages here in Hong Kong is English, but Cantonese and Mandarin are also widely spoken, and the residents of Hong Kong are a proud people and learning a few phrases of either language is indeed helpful and appreciated.
The other thing that really excited me about the post office was the stamps! Not those ones, these ones!

The Panda stamps were brought out early in 2025 when two panda cubs, born at Ocean Park made their debut.
Twelve stamps of HK locations were brought out later in 2025 and four of these are shown on the image above. Mind you, I did stamp all 12 in my notebook!
My hotel is in Kowloon and my goodness, there is so much to do in Kowloon without ever going on to HK Island but I will. That I plan to do tomorrow!

Today is Mid-Autumn Festival! It is also called the Moon Festival. It is a traditional festival of the harvest and the year’s fullest moon, bringing families together under its bright glow. There are many things going on around Hong Kong to celebrate the festival including this scene with rabbits filming at iconic HK locations. This is lit up at night, but you should get the gist from these photos.

Although born in the US, Bruce Lee moved to Hong Kong at a very young age. His parents, had moved from HK to San Francisco in 1939 but, despite HK being occupied by Japanese troops, the Lee family returned to Hong Kong in 1941. Hong Kong certainly embraced Bruce Lee and this is shown with his permanent statue on Avenue of the Stars. It just seems a bit of a shame that he is right next to a busy Starbucks!

There is currently also an exhibition at the Prudential Centre on Bruce. I thought it only right to say hello.

I do love wandering a new city. You never know what you might come across.

Who knew that Kowloon designed their pavements on deli counter queue tickets from the 1990s!

I’m already looking forward to tomorrow!
