We slept in this morning! I was awake until 2am, then we both woke up at 4am, chatted for a while then went back to sleep. I must have turned all my various 7-8am alarms off and work up at 9:20am! Not ideal having paid for breakfast which ended at 9:30am! We shall try and eat double tomorrow to get our money’s worth 🤣
Given the disappointment of the tour last night I was a wee bit apprehensive about the tour I’d booked today but there was absolutely no need.
Our fabulous guide Yuta met us right outside our hotel and we spent the day no only getting to know Tokyo and the sights and traditions of Japan, we got to know Yuta. A fabulous young man who set up this tour company as business just last year with his friends after graduating from university.
Michitabi Tokyo ( https://michitabi-tokyo.vercel.app ) is the company and their tours are so flexible, offering tours of two, four, six and eight hours. We gave the company a few suggestions of where we’d like to go and Yuta came up with the perfect itinerary.

The amazing thing about touring with a local is they know all the great places to eat and we had some amazing street food for lunch. Fried chicken, skewers and the most delicious rice balls. Three rice balls and all you could drink hot & cold tea, £7.10!

We had a real mix of Tokyo today. A Shinto shrine, a Buddhist temple and the traditions that go with each religion.
At the temple we picked our fortune for 50p. Both mum and I had bad luck fortunes so we left them at the temple for burning!

Tomorrow mum experiences her first bullet train (Shinkansen) ride as we head to Kyoto! With this being Japan, we know our 1118 will 1) run and 2) be on time for our 1329 arrival!!
