A down day!

I’ve been away for 16 days and today is the first day with no real plans!

Firstly I must tell you that although on Saturday I was too heavy for the Santa Monica carousel – yesterday I was too light for the California Adventure (Disney’s second park in Anaheim) Ferris Wheel! The Ferris Wheel has two options, swinging or non swinging carriages. I looked before I got in line, wise decision I thought. Clearly, none of these swinging carriages I saw had only one person in it!! I had planned to taking a video to post while I was in that carriages but oh my, my fingers were gripped onto the other seat next to me and the cage that I couldn’t even get my fingers through to grab on to! No wonder they had sick bags in there! As my carriage got down I was delighted it was a short ride, ha – how foolish as I went round again! I’m sure the Cast Member was laughing as I was launched up again! Here is a wee video when I had my feet safely on the ground!

The Swinging Carriages!

Which then of course made my thoughts turn to if I’d been with someone else. Then I’m pretty sure the weight distribution in that wee carriage would have been better and I would not have felt like I was going to fall off the seat or fly across the other side of the carriage!

As soon of you know, my mum and I have wee to Walt Disney World (Florida) quite a few times on our wee girls trips. We’ve also been as a family a few times with both my parents and Keith. Indeed when Keith and I lived in Upstate New York we flew down to Orlando a few times to go see Mickey and indeed Keith’s first time at Disney World was when we flew down for my 30th Birthday and spent a lovely weekend in The Boardwalk Resort! So Disney is a very special place for me and holds an awful lot of wonderful memories. Although he and I never made it to Disneyland, having spent time here now I know he would have loved it! I cried last night as I often do at Disney fireworks, but there are no fireworks at California Adventure, just the Wonderful World of Colo(u)r which is indeed spectacular.

There are those daft things you don’t think abut travelling alone instead of with someone. No-one to help with the luggage that seems to get heavier each time you pack, nobody to rub sun lotion in or indeed tell you if you still have a splodge on your cheek! But then, there are the single rider lines in theme parks which somehow seem to outweigh the negative when you are standing in the Californian sun, see a ride has a wait time of 75 minutes and then you notice the single rider line – ta da!

For those Cars fans, yesterday I rode Radiator Springs Racers (in the single rider line of course)! Quite similar to Test Track at WDW, but way cooler. I’ve only been on one ride at Disney that has broken down, until yesterday when one of the cars in front of the one I was in malfunctioned and had to be taken off the track. I wish I’d been a little further ahead to see how it was done, but it very much reminded me of an F1 race where all the cars have to go behind the safety car, the engineers etc have to come out and then the race has to restart. In reality it was nothing like that – but I like to think it was. Due to the inconvenience the car got to go again which was excellent fun!

Tomorrow it is on to Hawaii, my se ond new state of the trip! I will say ‘Aloha’ to you from there.

    1. Why do these things look okay from the ground and seem to change drastically once you’re up there???
