Morning from Sunny Dunny! Dunedin rather than Dunbar, but I did find Dunbar (street) yesterday!

Those of you who are fans of the Scottish tv show Still Game hopefully recognise thd title of this blog. Don’t you hate it ehen you need to check out of a hotel early, but your plane, train etc isn’t until later? I had to check out by 10am and my bus is not until 2:30pm therefore I “hingeth aboot” here in Dunedin.

The town hall here has converted an area into a cinema with proper seats! However the popcorn was nowhere to be seen. Glenrothan was playing which I’d wanted to see before leaving the UK but hadn’t so I timed it perfectly to watch what seemed to be a love letter to Scotland, in a town on the other side of the world called New Edinburgh.

I am heading to Queenstown this afternoon, famous for it’s stunning scenery and wintersports. It seens crazy that at the start of July I was “surfing” in Hawai’i and in the same month I could be skiing in New Zealand! I said could. I don’t think you’ll be seeing pics of me in a ski suit!!

I posted a parcel home yesterday, about £75 so roughly the same cost as the US, but this box was twice as heavy. Royal Mail and The Post Office have a lot to learn. There was so much space to stand and write out the customs form and each space has a working pen and a set of sxales so you knew how much the parcel weighed for completing the customs forms. The staff were also super helpful.

It has been so difficult not to buy things I’ve seen on my travels to keep that luggage weight down! But the odd wee thing has snuck in hence having to mail things home. For instance a “need” a new lunchbag and got this Hammerbarn one. Hammerbarn is the DIY store in the cartoon Bluey and Bunnings is the “real life” Hammerbarn here in NZ and Oz. They’ve teamed up to produce certain Bluey merch. If any of my NZ and Oz friends visit and see the “husband” gnomes please get one for me! I might be able to keep that husband!
