Just the way I am feeling tonight!

There really doesn’t seem to be too much to do in Jakarta – I probably should have done a bit more research but not to worry.

Walking here is pretty much impossible, it would be taking your life in your hands. There are motorised scooters everywhere! To give you an idea (yes, I looked up the stats!), 2,333,391 cars were registered in Jakarta in 2024 and 9,167,512 motorcycles!! I would hate to drive here, whether that be a car or a motorcycle! The roads are so narrow and those motorcycles zip everywhere! I’ve seen a family of four on just one motorcycle, helmets, no helmets, zipping under railroad crossings and squeezing through impossible gaps!

Between that and the money…

I don’t think I could ever be rich, definitely not a millionaire so you should all keep in with me as I’ll be giving most of it away, six zeros is just too many! I currently have about 6M. Six million Indonesian Rupiah is only about £250! I really cannot get over that a coffee and croissant in Starbucks this morning cost me 42,000, £1.80! A 15 minute taxi journey, 17,000, 72p! I am very, very confused by it all!

Although my new umbrella (cos I lost mine!) says “never lose hope” I think I’ll probably not get my phone back at this stage, it will be a week tomorrow since I lost it in Kuala Lumpur. I did get a new, but older model phone and now have an Indonesian and UK number. I am still hopefully that Three can indeed give me my old number back once I return home, but we’ll wait and see what is attached to the number and what was attached to the phone I guess I have lost but indeed, you never know and I should “never lose hope”.

Those of us of a certain age will probably remember Sylvanian Families but, did you know they are still really big out here?! It made my day yesterday to discover Chocolate Bunny Baby was at the hotel photo shoot! I did ask before gatecrashing the party!
